10/12/2010 - Congratulations to Gearóid O'Sullivan for becoming our first member to be elected to the European County Board (ECB). Gearóid will be the Assistant Treasurer for 2011.

Kieran Fahy and Balogh Ádám represented our club at the 2010 European County Board Convention in Stockholm, Swedan on December 4/5, 2010.

2010 Budapest Gaelic Football Pan-European Tournament

Budapest Rangers hosted a very successful  Gaelic football Pan-European Tournament on Oct 9 at Vasas Sports Club and Angyalföldi Sporttelep. It was great to see 23 teams taking part with 9 in the Ladies and 7 each in the Men's Championship and Shield tournaments.

Well done to Den Haag for defeating Belgium in the Championship final and to Cummann Warszawa for defeating fellow new boys Prague Hibernians on penalties in the Shield final after both clubs tied after normal time. The Ladies final was contested by Paris Gaels and the surprise package of the tournament - Vienna Gaels. Unfortunately, Vienna's form deserted the team in the final with Paris Gaels running out comfortable winners.

Our post tournament dinner took place at Trófea Grill Étterem in the 3rd district. The restaurant was fully booked out with 277 hungry and thirsty competitors. We were honored to have the Irish Ambassador to Hungary, His Excellency Mr John Deady and his wife in attendance. Ambassador Deady also presented the trophies to the winning captains and gave a short speech to close the dinner.

This tournament would not have been possible without the sterling work of Gearóid O'Sullivan, Kieran Fahy and Brian Elders behind the scenes and our partners and sponsors: Irish-Hungarian Business Circle (IHBC); Embassy of Ireland (Hungary); McHale Engineering, Kingspan, Legends Sports bar and to the ACCOR hotel group for providing clubs with excellent accommodation at IBIS and Mercure hotels.
